VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, April 20, 2021 –HTEC Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation (HTEC) today announced a collaboration with Mitsui & Co. (Canada), Ltd., which is the wholly-owned Canadian subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., (Mitsui), to develop a 5.0 megawatt (MW) electrolytic hydrogen production project in British Columbia that will provide fuel to HTEC’s network of fueling stations and help decarbonize local natural gas use. In a province like BC, where more than 90 percent of the energy produced is generated using cost-effective, clean, and reliable hydroelectric power, the partnership with Mitsui allows HTEC to meet increasing market demand for green hydrogen, produced by electrolysis.

“Partnerships make what we do possible,” says Colin Armstrong, HTEC’s CEO. “Hydrogen is part of the solution on the global path to a zero-emission future, in transportation, industry, homes, and our workplaces. HTEC and Mitsui are aligned in our commitment to developing a renewable hydrogen value chain in North America and this project is a great first step in what I hope will become a long and successful relationship.”

With 132 offices and affiliates in 64 countries worldwide, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. is collaborating across companies, countries, and industries, to develop hydrogen solutions to accelerate the clean energy transition. The company is already engaged in a number of upstream and downstream hydrogen-related projects, making investments not only in production, but also in storage tanks for passenger vehicles and heavy duty applications, ground storage, distribution solutions, fueling infrastructure and FC transports.

“We are expanding our partnerships with strategic players like HTEC who shares the common goal of decarbonization.” says Sayu Ueno, Chief Operating Officer of the Americas Business Unit of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. “Developing clean energy projects with companies like HTEC supports the strategic focus of our Medium-term Management Plan 2023 and moves us towards our company-wide commitment to play our part in creating a low-carbon, globally sustainable society.”

HTEC is Canada’s number one hydrogen production, distribution, and dispensing solutions company and a market leader in North American clean hydrogen infrastructure and technology solutions. The collaboration with Mitsui will support HTEC’s capacity to meet increasing market demand for the company’s hydrogen fuel supply solutions.
