EDMONTON APRIL 26, 2024: HTEC is proud to announce that Colin Armstrong, President and CEO, has been recognized as the Hydrogen Leader of the Year at the Canadian Hydrogen Convention Awards held in Edmonton. The award celebrates Armstrong’s outstanding contributions to advancing hydrogen technologies and his visionary leadership in shaping the future of clean energy in Canada.

“I am deeply honoured to receive the Hydrogen Leader of the Year award,” said Armstrong. “This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of the entire HTEC team and our partners who share a common vision of a cleaner, greener future. Together, we will continue to innovate and make safe, zero-emission travel and transport possible.”

With over 30 years of experience in the hydrogen industry, Armstrong has spearheaded transformative initiatives for hydrogen adoption in the transportation sector. Under Armstrong’s leadership, HTEC has achieved significant milestones, including the opening of Canada’s first retail hydrogen fueling station in 2018 and the establishment of a regional hydrogen fueling station network in British Columbia. These fueling stations currently support 300 hydrogen-electric vehicles and with multiple clean hydrogen production and liquefaction facilities being built, as well as more stations in various stages of planning and development, the number of vehicles and trucking fleets supported by HTEC is expanding.

In addition to his professional achievements, Armstrong is an active industry advocate and has served on the Board of the Canadian Hydrogen Association from 2011 to 2021. He currently chairs Hydrogen BC, driving collaborative efforts to promote hydrogen adoption and advance sustainable energy solutions across the province.
