HTEC helps reduce air pollution and improves local air quality at the Port of LA

11 Aug 2022 | Press Release

HTEC, a leading clean hydrogen production, distribution, dispensing, and transportation solutions company, announces the successful completion of the multi-partner Zero Emissions for California Ports (ZECAP) project on July 31, 2022. This pilot project demonstrated the commercial viability of zero-emission heavy-duty fuel cell electric yard trucks operating in a demanding, real-world cargo-handling application at the Port of LA.

HTEC was responsible for providing hydrogen fuel for the fuel cell electric yard trucks being demonstrated in this project. The company also developed and installed the hydrogen fueling equipment on TraPac’s site at the Port of LA.

As a key partner in this project along with GTI Energy, REV Group, BAE Systems, Ballard Power Systems, Frontier Energy, TraPac, HTEC successfully demonstrated that fuel cell powered, zero-emissions yard trucks are safe, reliable, and operationally preferable to diesel equipment and provide an excellent technology solution to support net-zero emission goals.

The $11M project was funded by California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment – particularly in disadvantaged communities.
